Local interior designers let loose on a blank canvas.

“Mixing true vintage and contemporary pieces allows the space to push the envelope,” says Michael Ferzoco of the South End’s Eleven Interiors. A lesson here: Don’t be afraid to draw from different eras, materials and price points. The leather-wrapped 1940s table on the right is topped with a reproduction of a 1950s lamp from Italian design house Zanotta; West Elm stools round out the look. The base of the coffee table also dates to the ’40s, but the granite top is new and adds a dash of modern color that pops up throughout the room. “The amethyst-colored accessories enhanced the neutral palette with their polished jewel-toned glamour,” Ferzoco adds.
