Art Deco Pied-A-Terre
Certain projects simply speak to your soul. They’re stylistically exciting, the scope is challenging, the budget is realistic, and they allow us the opportunity to collaborate with a savvy client who is familiar with the process.
A longtime client and friend asked us to design the interiors for his new Beacon Hill pied-a-terre. The project scope included a complete renovation and the interior decoration. There were all the usual renovation hurdles, of course, including mechanical systems and load-bearing walls in a building originally constructed in 1875. The decoration challenge, which we excitedly accepted, was to create spaces reminiscent of the Art Deco period, without a doubt the most elegant and glamorous period for interior design. We used several pieces of furniture that the client already owned and specified a mix of contemporary furnishings, original Deco pieces, and lighting to create a contemporized version of an Art Deco interior. The homeowner and the design team couldn’t be more delighted with the results.
