Plant Wall

Plant Wall

Over the years, we’ve had many clients who’ve requested low or zero VOC paint for their home. In fact, that’s a pretty basic request these days. We’ve had clients express a preference for furniture made with formaldehyde-free components to eliminate off-gassing, or that any number of sustainable and ethically sourced raw materials be used in construction instead of more standard options. Simply put, these clients prefer the healthier design option, even if unfortunately, it can still be more expensive.

This preference for what’s green doesn’t end with building materials. Residential design and decoration that improve quality of life by connecting people to nature has been especially big since the onset of the pandemic, but its expression in general decor and furniture has continued to evolve. Warmer palettes, earthy tones and textures, and rounded furniture are just some of the design elements that appeal to our collective desire for coziness at every level of luxury design.

Recently we completed a project in Cambridge where the client was so “into the green option” that we designed some of the spaces around the best locations for their plants. We also created space specifically for plants to thrive and clean the air that our clients breathe. This plant wall is a great example of how the green movement is evolving to allow today’s homeowners to create the healthiest environments for their families.

This was a first for us. And we have a feeling that it won’t be the last.
